Want snorkel for 2nd Gen 4Runner with 3.4 Engine Swap
« on: Dec 04, 2014, 05:04:06 PM »
I have a 1990 4runner with a 3.4 engine swap and I am wanting a snorkel for it.  The stock 3.0 has the airbox on the drivers side and with the 3.4 swap the airbox is on the passenger side.  Has anyone done this before?  Maybe used one for a Tacoma??

Did you make it from scratch or did you modify an off the shelf one?  Got any pictures of it?

Yeah really... sooo.. what did you do to make it? What did you use?

My old buddy made one out of ABS.  Basically drilled a hole in his air box large enough for your preffered size of piping.  Put a threaded end through the hole, and cap it on the inside of the air box. Mock up your bends and good to go... you can start with ABS and then bend one up outta metal using the ABS as a model :dunno:

I did make it from scratch and I built it for my needs/wants.  Started with an intake/battery swap with the 22R-E and adapted it to the 5VZ which was easy enough.

Here is what I did because I hate the look of sewer pipe on rigs.

I made one like OOPS on the passenger side with 3 inch exhaust tubing.

Tried to post resized pics but files still too large. 800x600 Posted them on other sites but I'm old and not computer savvy enough to post here anymore for some reason.

Super clean and fit under the fender. Stock 3.4 airbox but on my 2nd gen p/u. I can email detailed pics if anyone interested.

Has anyone bought an ARB snorkel for a Tacoma 3.4 and modified it for a 2nd gen with a 3.4 swap?

I think that it would be awesome to put a snorkel on my 1989 pickup 4X4. I like the look, and it would be even better in the wet and muddy conditions.
