96 tacoma transfer case
« on: Dec 06, 2014, 08:00:49 AM »
My case is about to grenade. I'd prefer not to remove it and rebuild it as time constraints could make this annoying. I'd like to find another case to rebuild and just do a quick swap when time permitted. My question is what donor vehicles should I be looking for? Mine is a 96 tacoma 2.7 ( 3rz ), 5 speed trans.

You should be able to use any case from 95.5 to 2004 from a 2.7 4x4. The only thing that may change is the speed sensor depending on what year you get on wich case you just put the one from your old case in its place. It's been awhile since I've had a 2.7 or 3.4 trans or trans case in my possession but a case from a 3.4 those years might have the same bolt pattern as well. Cause I think the adapter to run gear drive case is the same for 2.7 and 3.4 wich would mean the have the same bolt pattern.

I just looked on marlins store and it looks like he sells two different adapters for 4cyl and v6 trans. For some reason I think I already knew that. So you'll have to with a 4 banger case.

Thank you for the info. Hate to go looking not getting reference info from somewhere with some credibility first.
