I am not sure if I am posting this in the right spot but here goes... I have a 91 4runner with a worn out 22re and g58 tranny. I was looking to rebuild the engine but a friend of mine who is a 22r guru presented me with not one but two early 22r motors. I do not live in an emission state and there are no smog laws here so I am looking to to pull the worn out 22re, put in the rebuilt 22r with a Weber 32/36 on it. I am not looking for a hot rod but for durability and simplicity. Honsetly, I hate all the vacuum lines and garbage on my motor. I ahve all the parts to build the rig for a daily driver but I am unsure as whether the g58 will mount directly to the older 22r block. Also, for long term dependabilty, should I stay with the g58 or look into something else. I live in the flat south with no hills to climb and I do not do very much mudding in it. I know that I am moving backwards with this but I want a simple, no code, no vacuum line motor like I had on my 81 toyota.
