UN-body lifting
« on: Mar 06, 2005, 05:13:17 PM »
I bought my truck with a 2inch body lift in it.  I don't want it in there anymore.  If I take it out what I am going to need?  Just new bolts?  The lift was poorly installed the whole truck seems to sit to one side of the frame, I have terrible shift boot issues and the boot between the steering colum and firewall is destroyed making for a kind of noisey ride with the header right there.  I have no use for the lift as I only run 31's and don't plan to go bigger, gotta keep this beast my dd and just wheel the new zuki  :driving:

What about the body mount bushings? You might be able to get away with cutting your body lift pucks down smaller. Then using shorter bolts.

Where do I get a 1inch body lift?  I could live with that I'm sure.

If you have access to a lathe, its actually really really easy to make your own.

Check out the pics from my Project thread:

I just made matching 1" spacers and then ran down to orchard and got some (stupid american) bolts with a 9/16" head so I can still use my 14mm wrench.

You could cut the pucs in half and still use the same bolts.  just put the other half of the body lift under the mount.

from your name I am assuming it is a 91?  If it is a v6 (dunno about the 4 bangers) I would say keep the body lift, if nothing else it makes it a lot eaier to work on your engine.  I put in a new (to me) engine in this weekend, and without my body lift, it would have been A LOT harder.  Just my  :twocents: It even makes it easier to put in the sparkplugs.  As big as my hands are, I dont think I could put in my #5 without the BL

It is a 91 4cylinder regular cab.  I may just loosen everything up and shift the cab and bed around.  The cab is way offset, I can't used stock shift boots, it pulls out of second and low range if I remember right.  I know somebody makes a 1inch body lift too, and is there any sites that would show me how to install it just so I know where all the bolts and stuff are.

Roger brown makes 1" BLs and it's the only BL I'd run.

Well, if the ideal of excluding the lesser equipped (stock or otherwise) is accepted... there is no fundamental difference between that and a Sierra CLub ideal of exclusion. If we cannot embrace the 4wheel users as a whole. We are not fighting for access. I cannot be that shortsighted

I run a 2inch body lift on a 94 4-runner from Roger Brown.
He has very good parts. (custom fit for your truck)
I only needed a 1inch body lift so I am selling my 2inch
to a friend and buying another 1inch from Roger Brown.
Roger has good customer service and will take the time
to answer any questions you might have.
I had good luck with Roger and would recommend
his products to anyone
