Well all the work I have done it the past few days has been in vain... It is puking oil every where....Not sure whether to try fixing this engine AGAIN or getting a long block already built.. LCE is a BIT pricey but sure is SWEET...

Well it appears that I have killed it.... The engine blows oil out of the valve cover vent, dip stick, timing chain cover, front seal and the oil pan.. (all new gaskets)....I can not decide whether to rebuild this engine AGAIN, buy a long block or upgrade..

I did find a 85 Buick 231 V-6 with an MSD distributor and Elderbrock intake, with 80,000 miles on it.
I do have a brand new Holley carb...
I am still undecided as to which way to go.....

 Any suggestions??

DING DING DING........I NEED RINGS

Well I started at 8:30 this evening and by midnight I had it down to the bare block..

An hour and half later..

And a little while later, the culprit.......Cylinders #1, #2 and #4. the top ring only.. Machine shop said if it ever got hot, it will cause the rings to collapse and break up... I believe it did when my son had the freeze plug blow out..

Gonna have the head resurfaced, the crank polished ( the bearings look real good) and order the parts Monday..

I talked to the guy that has the 231 today, I may still get it and put it in the corner for a while....

I ordered a "NEW" not rebuilt engine from JapanEngines.com. $1750, shipped with no core.. I have bought parts from them before and had great customer service...Hopefully this engine will be as good..

Cleaned and painted the engine bay and started getting the truck ready to repaint (I got degreaser on the paint)... So a quick re-spray is in order.

Today I painted all the black, the bumpers, rock sliders and rear fenders.
I also got everything taped off and ready to paint the green..That will be this weekend..Time to go back to work for a few days and get some rest.

I used spray cans and it came out really good, no runs that I have seen yet..

I gave SERIOUS thought to doing a swap but I already has a Crawler Cam a D.U.I distributor, an Offenhauser Intake and a brand new Holley 4 barrel carb...So it wouldn't have been cost effective at this time... BUT and I men BUT if this engine ever pukes I am gonna go BALLS OUT..

I painted the stripes and TOYOTA on the valve cover red.... the red came out flat, ugh, so I clear coated the valve cover..
The silver wrinkled, but I think it looks pretty cool so I'm gonna  leave it..

And inside this crushed box is my engine ( it looks okay).......

Sucks that I have to work tonight, but I am off the next 2 days....

I ordered the cage from 4XINNOVATIONS....

They said 2-3 weeks for availability... It is on its way and should be here before the weekend..
So less than 2 weeks.. I am pleased.

I like the bed and the rear fenders.

Thanks... The bed came off a golf course tractor (not sure what kind, I found it in the weeds) and the fenders are Sturdybilt trailer fenders..

I promised pics and an explanation of the technical difficulties..

I DO NOT WANT anyone else to have this problem, so PLEASE inspect your parts as soon as you get them. Especially if you by a product from a manufacture from a supplier..for example, Headers from Doug Thorley Headers from Summit Racing.

I had the NOT so pleasant experience of one blaming the other for the issue I experienced.. I feel Summits customer service is quick, but lacking when you have a problem.. I feel that Doug Thorley headers is NOT taking responsibility for their product.... In a nutshell the header leaked at the air injection plates. The reason they leaked is because the weld for the tube to the flange is all the way up to the air injection port.. See photo:

I called Doug Thorley directly, they said that it is the wrong header for my truck, because my truck is carbureted and that is why it leaks, even after sending them the same picture. They also informed me that they make 6 different headers for the 22R and I needed part # blah blah blah.....They also said I had to take it up with Summit. So I called Summit and explained to them what was happening with the header and gave them part # blah blah blah... I was told I would have to send my header back and would be charged a restock fee, because my header is now "USED" and cannot be sold as new. I was also told it would take 2-3 (if not more) weeks to "special order" part # blah blah blah.....

So to make a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong story short, I YODARIGGED IT.
15 minutes with a Dremel and NO MORE LEAKS...

So please do yourself a favor and look real close BEFORE you install your parts...

 RANT OVER
I also forgot to tell you, "You can't put a 85 and up 22R in a 83 truck" no doo-doo that is what I was told..

On a lighter note, it does run, but my oil gauge is showing zero oil pressure. I put it in the port in front of the filter this time (don't know if that is why), I will look into that more this weekend...
 Out of the cave:

And the big brown santa dropped off some more goodies:
 The seats:

Seat belts:

The cage:

and the sparkplug wire loom:

Looks like I have enough to keep me busy for a few days...

I been trying to get the oil pressure gauge to work and I finally did.. I ended up using the port below the oil filter..

On another issue, I can get it to run smooth and jump right up to 4500rpm while it is in the cave... As soon as I pull out on the road, it falls on its face.. I know it is something simple, but I am baffled...
