1997 T100 question for a friend thats wants to buy this
« on: Mar 02, 2013, 08:01:12 PM »
My friend is looking at buying a 1997 T100 3.4 gasser 5 spd. 206K.  I test drove it with him and I noticed that even wound up at 4k rpm's the oil pressure gauge only registered about 1/4 on the gauge.  at idle the oil pressure seem to drop really low.  Is this the normal range for a 3.4?  I'm used to my 854Runner and 84 FJ60 and don't have any experience with the T100's.  Any advice for my friend and his first toyota purchase would be most helpful.

Thanks,

Burl

It's normal for it to indicate low. What you described is what my 96 (3.4, 205k) looks like when it's ready for a change, but even with a fresh 5 quarts it only reflects at the gauge for a few days and not by much.
