F.S. 1985 extra cab SA $3,000
« on: Jan 12, 2013, 12:49:05 PM »
I can't do pics but this is a straight forward discription. There is only one small dent and one small rust spot on this whole truck. Engine blew. It was a carb'd engine. I will sell W/O engine now but plan on putting in the engine from my truck I built about 7 years ago. Then price will be $4500 with new T.chain and seals and clutch. Truck was originally white but now has a rattle can paint job - flat black. This truck is worth stripping down and restoring. The interior headliner, door panels, and dash are like new ( standard interior, not SR5).. Seats need re-done as well as carpeting. Has G52 tranny, Old man Emu suspension, ( could be NWOR's I'll look up the # on the springs to verify) 2 or 3 inch I'd say, Has rear NWOR greaseable shackles. and Emu shocks. Wheels are stock with cheesy tires. LCE front rotors, vented and LCE rear disc conversion (thats $350 in parts for the conversion and $120 for the front rotors plus the bigger calipers. No rear bumper, front bumper a bit bent. Truck is in Bozeman Montana email is dancarpenter_2000@yahoo if want more info but this should be enough to entice a real buyer.

Stats : 85 Toyota 22RE , 3" body lift, 32" wild country's, Duel Marlin, Lock rights front and rear, full inside cage.

I drive , I wheel , I crawl , I am Toyota

No I don't think so. A used motor is $800 from a yard, mine that I will put in it (out of my truck) will probably test less than 20% leak down then with a new clutch and T chain $4500. I don't see many extra cabs at all and the really nice ones go for $6000 +, put  a paint job on this and theres your $6000. Beat up ones go for $1200 I saw once on C.List. We had some bad weather here just after I got this truck on trade , I should be able to get a few pics  in a week or so. Also I'm not in a hurry to sell this ...I don't "have to " sell it. What would you sell your extra cab for? Not for sale? I wouldn't think so, as people know this is the truck to have. I already have an extra cab that was originally a regular cab long bed. I pulled the cab, cut the frame ,added nine inches so now I have an extra cab /long bed.  Thanks for posting do you see any comparable E cabs for sale cheaper?

It's all about the location.  It would probably sell for that much here in PA.

So who is twisting your arm to buy anything. I think dental work is out of control as well as AR 15's and the cost of a cheap date these dazes isn't cheap either. I still have the truck getting close to putting an engine in it I am working on 5 trucks most are mine two for others.

Damn, I left my gun forum to escape ridiculous prices  :smack:

What yard are you getting your motors from? My 22RE source rebuild with warranty costs 1000 bucks. To pull a good runner from the yard would cost you 400 on a bad day. Might want to start going to a different yard especially if you are building 5 trucks.

I admit I dont know prices for montana but id be willing to bet they are higher in CA.

hard to say with out pics but it sounds like a 1500-2000 dollar truck, and id have a real hard time paying 2k for a truck with no motor.

I have been seller engine cores to LCE for 10 years now. It started as I would go to AZ. for the winter so I took then some spare blocks I had. I have probably sold them 100 engines. I can assure you they ARE very particular and inspect the cores thoroughly. My yard sells me engine cores for $75 and I pull them myself which takes me all day. I now have cordless imppacts so I got the time down a bit . I do it more for the fun of it. I have become "friends" with LCE over the years. My yard will sell a pulled EFI engine for $800. They'll sell it to me for even less as I do so much biz with them. One of the trucks is a M37 power wagon thats not mine that I'm working on the side. The owner, I am building a heavy duty rig for (Toyota) and getting ready to assemble his engine next week. I be done with that project in two week. Then I'm pulling my engine to put in this Xtra cab truck withnew T. chain seal and totally painted nice com[pents and G52 tranny. When that sells I will rebuild the engine that was in the xtra cab which was a LCE stroker that the kid misused and cracked 2 pistons. I caught it before it totally grenaded. It needs pistons rings and bearings. $900. I sold the R151 along with other parts on that truck to the guy whom I building the heavy duty truck for. Then I have a CUSTOM cab truck I got for $300 with no engine and trees growing out of the cab. I build a new engine for that, and paint it. It should be a $5000 truck. When all thats done I'm going to Alaska to do as little as possible and not go to bed hungry. I already have my AR so i don't care how expensive they are. i use to own legal M16s. I bought them for $3000 and one 9MM SMG for $6000. That was back around 9/11. I thought the FEDS would come get them so I sold them. One for $10,500 the other for $8,000 . Now they are worth prob.. $15,000 and $20,000. Oh well. And the last time I had a date a candy bar cost a nickel. Gotta go.

I don't have a phone or a camera like most people dp these daze. I am anti "stuff". I will do pics when the engine is in if I can find someone to do it for me. Yeah you can find trucks for $600 with a blown motor that you will have to spend all day pulling apart to find the core is no good and now you spend between $800/1000 for a used core. You really can't afford to pay a shop $85 an hour to build and install engines anymore. And it will come with a totally rusted out bed and will be IFS. Yeah once in a while you can find those. This truck is SA and no rust and nice interior thats not cracked , the headliner looks mint as the door panels. Thats rare to find. I build nice engines with USA or Jap parts and not stuff from China. I paint the entire engine so it looks sharp. I even took this tranny casings apart paid $20 to wash then primed them and repainted it so it looks better that Marlins which are bead basted which looks nice for a while then turns dull grey.  I noticed that guy never answered me as to how much he would sell his extra cab for. On ebay they go for $4500/$6000, what can I say? I also have a very nice short bed with a sprayed liner no dents no rust. I'd say its worth $500 and another almost as good for $300. Beds are very hard to find.

OK, If nobody here thinks its worth it thats OK.  But I noticed that you did not say "WHEN" that was. and thats a 4 runner not an extra cab. And the other guy with an extra cab never said what he would sell his for either, And nobody has pointed out any other extra cabs that are currently for sale.  I do see the one for $8500 and thats a good deal if you don't know how to do any wrenching yourself as its done and ready to go.

On March 31 on ebay, an extra cab went for $6100 with 32 bids. It was very clean. Theres another thats current with 5 days to go thats past $6,000. So I think you guys are living in the past with your pricing.  I'll sell it on ebay when I get the engine in.

Well then looks like I will be posting my 82 SR5 longbed on ebay instead of here!
