Transmission ID Please
« on: Feb 07, 2013, 04:33:18 AM »
I know this is going to sound dumb... I was given a Toyota Tranny and transfercase from a friend that had a Chevy 350 in his rig. The tranny has the GM bellhousing on it still, but I am unsure what transmission I have in front of me. I looked for ID marks, but cannot find anything that makes sense. HELP!! I am hoping I have the R150 or R151 sitting here!! :hammerhead:

Count the splines on the input shaft and post some pics.

Heres your pics. Looks like a w56b. If that center section that looks rusty is aluminum then it's a w56a.

Okay! How strong is it. I have a w56E in my truck currently (I think). 1994 22RE. Want to put a Vortec in front of it for more power. I know the R151F is the brute transmission, but I have the parts to do it with this one. I figure drive it until it explodes or swap down the road when money is more available. My 22RE is leaking oil from the around the balancer area, so it needs a front seal. If it is going to come out, it might as well stay out. Then sell it with one of the transmissions?? Another quick questions. Is it possible to make the transfer case into a front dig by making a doubler with the 2 Toyota tcases. I know I can do it with a Dana 300 easily.
