1985 toyota 4x4 pickup
« on: Sep 27, 2005, 12:14:24 AM »
Hi. Im looking to see what I can get for my 1985 toyota 4x4 pickup. Nothings wrong this truck at ALL. Im just interested to see what I can get.

1985 toyota single cab 4x4 pickup short bed.
237k miles
rebuilt motor a month ago. Has only 1,500 in it. Still getting broken in.
5.29 gears.
35 inch xterrian tires.
rebuilt transmission has about 50k
New clutch.
Inside is super clean with brand new bucket seat. Has 2 speakers upfront powered by a amp and 2 in the back powered by the deck. Good sound system.
Alot of other good stuff. Very clean rig.

The cons:
Has no power steering. Its a pregnant dog when the rig isnt moving hehe but off roading, it wasnt that bad. power steering can just be bolted on.
Everything is basically new or replaced on the rig besides the carb. Probably soon could use a rebuild or a new one but for now its fine.

I have reciepts from the previous owner all the way to 1996. Over 10k in reciepts i counted up now 12k with the rebuilt motor i paid for.

Im just looking to see what people got to offer now and days.

If i wanted cash i would want 6,000. But please, rather not.

i dont get how that could be pricey considering it has 12k in recepits so everything is pretty much new and replaced. and i have every single receipt too. I think 5k is a pretty fair price. But thanks for the bump. And im not trying to give u attitude or anything

well .. not to give you attitude too. but 5k, im sure you want that and you put in more money into your rig, but in reality people these days dont want to pay the amount of money we put into our rig. its sad story but its reality

bump bump for you.

A "modded" rig is worth less than a stock one and a stock 1985 ain't worth maybe $1200 as far as the insurance companies and banks are concerned.  You'll be lucky to get $0.30 on the dollar for what you actually spent on the vehicle, including your labor.  Yeah, it sucks, but that is reality.  $5000 on a 20 year old truck that has been modified by who knows is a risk no matter how you look at it.  I sure wish you luck in getting that kind of $$$ for it, but you'll be the exception and not the rule.

More pics would help too.

thanks for the post and thanks for not flaming me to dust haha. Thats why i stopped looking at pirate4x4.com. . . haha anyways i get what your saying and totally understand. I might just keep it and convert it to efi because thats mainly what i want but anyways besides the point there could be that one person that would be willing to pay that much if they like what they see hehe aka me. I just found a good rig that i wanted for 4,800 and tryng to trade for that much. but anyways thanks again for being kind of honest. ttt by the way! I also heard that if u show the insurance companies receipts on that truck that it is worth that much or close to it. Not sure just what i heard but i never asked lol

I agree about it being too high. You never get your money back on a toy, i doesnt matter what your reciepts show, It is only gonna sell if you can find someone that want to pay what your asking and kbb will always be looked at as a reference, 3k sounds about right here, and thats if the body is really srtaight. Sorry man.
