Topic: My 86 4Runner won't crank over! HELP!!!

Aloha from Hawaii forum!
    So my truck was running fine except the battery was leaking its fluid so I went to replace it. Went to Walmart and bought an equivalent battery. Put it in the truck and it wouldn't start, and I wasn't getting good connects so I replaced the terminals. After that, still wouldn't crank over. The battery was drained so I got a jump and I think the person who helped put on or removed the cables in the wrong order and perhaps fried something. At that time, I could still hear my fuel pump working and engaging when the key was turned to ACC but not anymore. I got a tow home and I replaced the spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, plug wires, and today I replaced the MSD SS blaster coil and even the COR fuse and it still won't crank over. I've tried spraying starter fluid down the weber and nothing. All the fuses tested out good. Truck was fine until I went to replace the battery so something must have happened to the electrical along the way, but I'm not even hearing the fuel pump turn on at this point. Any ideas? Have you checked all the fuses yet?

why would you replace all those parts when it wouldnt even crank over? They have nothing to do with that, check the fuses, check the starter and check the wiring

I replaced the distributor cap and rotor because I wasn't getting spark so that seemed like the obvious place to start before moving on to the coil. After replacing the coil, doesn't seem like I am still getting spark (I don't have someone to help me check). I wasn't getting power to the fuel pump after engaging the key so after much research, everything pointed to the COR fuse. Since there is not a way to test the fuse, I bought one (sigh). It still didn't engage the power to the fuel pump either so something else is going on. I'm just not familiar enough with it to troubleshoot. All fuses check out okay and the motor cranks but won't kick over. But without the fuel pump starting and no spark, it's not going to matter. Any ideas guys?

My igniter fried when my step dad borrowed my truck and jumped it backwards.

You said it wasnt cranking over

Can you jump it at the starter and get it to turn over? if it turns over and starts from that point you might have a clutch safty switch issue. I had the same problem with my 86 4runner and I just bypassed the clutch safty switch on the passenger side fender.
