Topic: EACV help

Howdy All - I'm going through a smog checklist in an attempt to get my 83 4x4 pickup on the road again.

I can not get the EACV to operate like i think it should. In essence it seems like a pretty simple device -->air comes from the smog pump and goes out one of two ways. 1 - to the exhaust manifold, 2 - to the air intake. Problem is I can't seem to get mine to switch to the exhaust manifold even when i apply current directly to it!


1. What are the proper test procedures for the EACV
2. Where can i get a new one?
3. Will something from another vehicle work? If so which vehicle.

Thanks - I have it. This particular eacv was used from 83 to 84 so the 85 fsm is no help.

Short of any way to test this i'm waiting for a 22r to show up in the junkyards. If you know someone who is "de-smogging" and doesn't need their EACV let me know!
