1st gen 4runner

i just picked up a 84 4runner and the guy i got it from took the tranny outdue to popping out of gear. I am pretty sure its a g52 trans but he has another on with out the shifters in it i think its a w54. would the w54 work if i was to get the shifters for it. i am new to the older yotas i have only built the 90s and up. please help

Well I guess no-one has ran across this so I will at least  start posting pictures and post soon about the on road off road 4runner build up
