22RE From an 85 4runner
« on: Oct 05, 2011, 08:36:38 PM »
Ok I have a 22re for sale out of an 85 4runner

the motor had a blown head gasket when I bought the truck. The guy started to do the work but stopped so intake is removed and a few other things. Wasnt able to turn the motor. so I just swapped another in.

22re 85 4runner, includes wiring harness and ECU from an auto.
I used the original ECU and wiring harness for the swap

BAD-
Probably needs rebuild
heated up and blew the head gasket
possibly some misc missing pieces, nothing major
I robbed one of the fuel injector connectors for a swap so one isnt on the harness. Didnt cut the wire, just removed the connector so a new one just needs to be slid on
intake is off, but included
the whole upper is in a few pieces, but all intact.

I know this motor ran fine before my buddy blew the gasket and the subsequent motor, so structurally it should be fine. tolerances I'm not sure of.

Not sure what has to happen to go EFI from a carby, but the head (needs to be decked prob) and all the wiring etc might just have to be swapped onto your 22r block with the intake and fuel tank and upgraded lines.  Dont know really whats going on but feel free to take a look. I will post pictures soon

PM me with questions, I'll do my best to answer

Located in Laguna Hills

$150 is probably fair
