« on: Jan 31, 2005, 08:38:59 PM »
Please tell me how the Jan 22 meeting went.  I wanted to make it but I was working :smack:

Thanks in advance!

FOTR has completed the initial draft comments to a condensed version of the proposed Rubicon Trail Master Plan. You can download them and use them to make your own comments. Using teams of FOTR folks, we put this together with the hope to make this process a bit easier for folks to make sense of all this and see what some of the options might be.

Go here to download the condensed plan in .pdf (Adobe) format:

they seemed interested in what we had to say.
were listening to our suggestions.
that doesn't mean they are not going to just throw them out the window.
but i think they are starting to realize that they should take our suggestions more seriously.
i hope they actually listen this time.

I have been involved with county public hearings before, and they were a sham. The board of supervisors just shelved all the suggestion that we came up with over a three month period. I think that we need to be careful, and should not rely or depend on the county for coming up with the solution we want. We need to handle the Con now! Make it happen, let everyone know they need to carry it out. If the enviro's have there way, they will shut it down. Water quality needs to be perfect.

Fortunately, for the Rubicon, there is a group called the ROC (Rubicon Oversight Committee). It is comprised of Federal, County and State Employees as well as, an enviromentalist, Private Land owners, several User groups and Law Enforcement. Any decisions have to go by this group and I believe they have the best interest of the trail in mind. In fact they are charged with the responsibility of the future well being of the trail.
