L50/L52 lube?
« on: Jan 16, 2005, 09:37:05 AM »
how much gear oil does one of these transmissions take and what kind do you recommend i should use?  i'm thinking of going with a synthetic lube to prolong its life

75w90 or 80w90 is what the manual recommends, but I'm missing the section that says how much,    Nate

i got some GL4 85w90 oil($5 a quart sheesh), took a bit over 2qts to fill up.  i've heard to stay away from true GL5 in toy trannies as it makes them hard to shift due to it being too slick on the synchros...i didn't have any qualms about putting it in my t-case though, cheaper too!

($5 a quart sheesh)

The exact reason I buy it in 5 gal. buckets (about $35) and use a pump, plus with the pump its easier and faster to fill diffs, trannys and t cases.

i bought a pump but it wouldn't work right with the mini sta-lube jugs.  i had to end up holding on to both the pump, jug and top hose, since it wouldn't screw to the jug.  made a huge mess, and found out what it's like to take a bath in gear oil :nonono: but it eventually did the trick
