HOW DO YOU REPLACE E-BRAKE CABLE FROM HANDLE IN CAB?
« on: Dec 04, 2010, 01:12:19 AM »
My ebrake cable snapped and wondering how to replace that cable so I can install a new in there. do I have to buy a whole new handle with cable or just the cable? I f just the cable, how do you release it from the handle. Can't seem to figure it out or is even possible to replace just cable?  :tantrum: :headscratch:

you only need the cable, but get it all apart so you know which cable you need.

take out the bolts that hold the handle. then push in the little "keepers" that hold the ebrake handle when you pull it out, you have to push it in about 1/4" farther back then where it would be if you just release the ebrake. once you do that you can remove the cable from the back.

its sound confusing but is easy. let me know if you need a pic.

ok, heres the "keeper", press the 1st one down then push the handle in as far as it will go.

i forgot this part. take out the cotter pin, the pin that holds the pulley and the pulley.

and here is where the end of the cable is. just pop it out.

Ditto, but I tapped it to 1/4-20 and made a new pin. It is alot easier if you pull the handle off the dash IMO.
