Chevy V8 in my 3rd gen pickup w/o air
« on: Mar 06, 2011, 06:42:10 PM »
I'm looking for any ideas of where to get some brackets to mount my toyota a/c compressor to my chevy V8.   I can't seem to find any online so I thought you guys could help.  It gets hot in Memphis and I got to have some air! :chillpill:

More than likely going to have to fab some up yourself to make it work.
Build it right or get off the trail

You definitely need to run a SB350 radiator or BBC rad, which means you'll need to put the rad in front of the core support where the a/c condensor would be

I'm new here but I will try to post some pics.  My rad is in the stock toyota location however it is far from stock compared to a factory toyota rad.  Its is so thick (4core) the frame had to be notched out in one area.

What rad are you using?  Could you possibly need to flush out the cooling system?

This was geared towards IDGAF

Sorry for the thread jacking! I'm using a 4 core griffin with a 16'' electric fan. I think I might have a air bubble with fan on, t- stat out, idleing it runs at 190-200.  Also I think I have more of a 80/20 mix of antifreeze and water instead of 50/50 mix. Rad is not clogged and has new water pump from advance.  Removing the 160* t stat did'nt change the temp at all. Sorry for so much info but I've been F-ing with this for 2 weeks straight. thanks

Sounds like u need a bigger rad I run a full size ford rad in my bed with a 160 stat and it purrs at 170 to 200 depending if im on road or trail try  connecting a couple flex hoses if u don't want to convert to the bed make them two feet long from the intake and from the pump the more coolant u have the better off u r.

Northwest Offroad or Downey might be places to look for an AC bracket... I used them for parts on my 4.3 V6 Swap.. but you may want to just consider the Chevy stock setup, could be a cheaper way to go
