91' runner - high loping idle
« on: Nov 03, 2010, 07:59:43 PM »
It's a 22re. Just recently it started this. When cold it has a high, smooth idle of 2k rpm. After a few min. of warm up it starts loping between 1500-2000k rpm. When I hit the brakes the idle drops and still lopes between 1-1300k rpm. It drives just fine, besides it not wanting to go into gear from a stop! Lol!
I've checked the for vacuum leaks, TPS, EGR, and brake booster. I took the TB off and cleaned it up. I took apart the air valve attached to it, but not sure if it's good or bad. Same with the booster, pulled the vac line capped it and no change. There is another valve under the intake manifold I haven't checked yet. I also checked the CTS and radiator is topped off. I've been using a FSM for all testing of components.
Anyone have a clue? Just need to take a step back and get a second set of eyes on this.

My bro in law had a problem much the same as the loping idle and after we dug into it found he used to much silicone when he replaced a water pump or thermostat and some of the junk went into a valve in the cooling and pluged it causing it to lope in idle.
It was caught on a sensor that allowed it to idle smooth.

It might be your TPS....check and  make sure it's clocked right.

i had the same problem, i think its called the auxiliary air valve under the front of the EFI log. just clean it
I like money, I use it, I have a little. I keep it in a jar on top of my refrigerator. I'd like to put more in that jar. That's where you come in..-
