silver heat sink thing. what is it?

just wondering what the silver heat sink finned thing is on the passenger fender on the EFI pickups/4runners? i was told something about resistors and the fuel injectors, but i really have no idea.

anyone else able to drop some knowledge on me? :headscratch:

A heat sink................


for voltage/current dropping resistors for the fuel injectors.

we have about the same amount of snow this winter.

Exactly what I was talking about thk, thanks for the pic. I found out it is the fuel injector resistor. My question is does anyone know why some pickups/4runners have them and others don't? The truck I pulled my 22 rte out of didn't have one, and my 22re did. The only thing I can come up with was they used different injectors(I know they do) but it seems that there would be a better reason .

The injectors that have low impedance need the added resistors (generally the older engines)

High impedance injectors don't need the resistors.
