Upgrade Front Brakes
« on: Jan 16, 2005, 11:31:31 PM »
I have an 85 front axle on my toyota, and am going to upgrade to IFS with vented rotors. I have a quick question. Do I have to use the backing plates, or can I just take them off? Would this cause any problems?

I cut the backing plates off leaving just the 8 hole center part and the brakeline bracket.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

No backing plate no place for rocks to get stuck and make that god awful squawling noise,    Nate

You will need to cut them anyway to get the calipers to fit..So better to just cut them off..If you can get a bigger master brake cylinder....late model toyota...Try and get an iron one..the alum suck... :twocents:
