Spartan locker?
« on: Dec 16, 2010, 12:48:32 PM »
I have seen Spartan lockers online and was wondering if anyone has got one yet? On one search it said it was made by Yukon but I didn't see it on there web site. Was wondering if its better than an Aussie?

there was a thread on pirate about how well the spartan lockers were holding up. Most people seem to be having good luck with them

I haven't run one personally but we do have one here in the shop and it looks at least as well built as a Lock Right if not a bit more stout. I haven't heard anybody swearing by them but more importantly I haven't heard anybody swearing at them.

I'm still trying to decide on an Aussie or Spartan, or spend another $200 and get the Yukon grizzly locker.

im pretty sure they are the same as a lockright..but the pins are bigger than the lockright, so it solves the problem of them breaking

They are being compared to a LockRight and the Aussie is stronger than a LockRight in my opinion.  It may be as good as an Aussie, but I doubt it's better.

Go Aussie and get a proven product.

One thing that makes an Aussie different from a LockRight is the springs are much softer allowing it to unlock easier.  This should make it handle better overall as long as it stays locked when necessary and it has been my experience that it does.

I want to make my truck a pretty hardcore trail rig that I can drive to the trail. It doesn't have to be my DD I have A Ford Expedition, but I like driving my Toyota around town its more fun. So I defiantly want it streetable. I'll probably get the Spartan for now till it breaks or I can afford an ARB. But I'm trying to save up for a 3rz swap. Now that Marlin sells the Spartan it must be pretty good if it got there approval.

I tried buying an Aussie locker a few months ago but they were out of stock and didn't know when they would have more ready. I like buying from Marlin so I think ill go with the Spartan over the Aussie.

seems like your forced to go with the spartan. well if marlin feels its worthy to sell at his place then go for it. That will be the best bang for the buck. if you do use it on the street, just take your right turns a little wider, or try to coast it around

I've ran aussie lockers before and it did great. I believe aussie's slogan is, "if you can break it, we'll replace it"...no matter what tire size you run. (within warranty period of course). Atleast that's what sold me. Now, I'm running full Detroits front and rear. Alot quieter...

the spartans definetly bark at you more than detroits but my buddy has a spartan in his sammy front and rear and we have wheeled the :pokinit: outa of it and they have held up fine.

on a side note, have u ever tried to wheel a samurai with no power steering locked in front and rear? My arms definetly got a work out! LOL
