front shock set up
« on: Dec 22, 2010, 06:48:47 PM »
Did a quick search on here didn't seem to find the info I was looking for easy.

We're using an allpro 5in kit up front with bill's and shock hoops.  I want to say we have 10in travel shocks for the front but I could be wrong.  Now this is more the east coast guys.  Do you mount the shock at ride height with 5in up travel and 5 down travel or set it at like 4inchs up travel and 6 inches down travel?

Thanks
Drew

While I dont have a quick answer for you I may have the one the helps best.

Measure the thickness of all but the main leaf and build a block or spacer that you can put under the spring pack to mimick the height of the pack.
Disassemble the spring pack and bolt up the block you just made, cycle the suspension upward untill bumps are hit, measure collapsed length of shocks and note height and postion on frame. Then position the hoops there. Now you have full use of your shocks.

ya, there's no real set way to make mount your shocks, just measure till your bumps hit and then mount them with that much uptravel. i have about 4 up and 10 down with my shocks, originally had about 2 up and 12 down but like to go fast to much.
