hawse style fairlead for steel cable??
« on: Jan 02, 2011, 07:59:45 PM »
Not sure if thats the correct way to say it but looking for a hawse style fairlead to run with steel winch cable. If I put the roller style on my winch plate I cant use the reciever part. I saw that Davez has a hawse style fairlead that is steel instead of aluminum, would this work?? Thanks for the help.

I run a steel hawse style fairlead, it will work, but tear up your cable a lot faster than a roller. Do not run an aluminum one with a steel cable.

the aluminum fairlead are for synthetic rope only. the steel cable would easily eat up the aluminum.

Ok thats what I thought. I knew the aluminum was for synthetic but didnt know if the steel hawse was for synthetic as well. I think I will get one from Dave so I can still use my front reciever. Thanks for the replies!
