SOMEBODY HELP!!!
« on: Dec 03, 2010, 11:10:52 PM »
Hello all, I have a 93 extra cab and I want to movine my gear box forward but I cant get steering shaft/rod what ever it's called that goes into the gear to extend. I've tried heating it with blow torch then tapping it after the heat treatment. It's not like the 2nd gens to where you can pull out so much to extend the rod.

SOMEBODY HELP!!!!! :tantrum: ??? :help:

if u are talking about extending ur steering shaft? What i do is cut it, add a pice of same length and diam steel, weld fully, then sleeve it, and weld the sleeve, thats not a part that you want to have any chance of failing,

Thought about that but would cutting it give me any negative vibrations to my steering at high speed?

not 100 percent sure, but i would say NO, it will not transmit through the box, just make it striahgt, and strong.

that gen doesnt have an expandable shaft. get a full shaft out of a solid axle rig and weld it in place as stated before

no I ment I make 1 out of 2
cut both long so you dont have to weld in a piece
just a sleeve over the both.

I have never seen 1 fail
