Line Lock for the rear disc brakes....Question
« on: Dec 31, 2004, 08:24:03 PM »
I have installed rear vented disc's on my 1985 4runner.I want to add a line lock for the rear only. That way I can have total control over the rear brakes.

So where or which line do I tap this item into.

looking at the proportioning valve I see two brake lines. The top one has an arrow pointing aft. the lower line has an "F". Just off the top of my head looks like one of these lines are a return. If this is so I may not be able to this mod....... :crossed:

Chevy disks and calipers or the full floater kit?

that valve your looking at, does it have a wire coming out of it? if so it's not the place to start.  anyway, you can do this allright I don't know what you mean by total contorl, more than just useing the parking brake? or do ya not have a parking brake now? is that why ya doing this? anyway, find the singal line that goes to the rear of the truck. it will have a rubber hose where it dropes down to the axle. if you find the hose you've fond the right line. just back up nere the fire wall and tie into it some place there. gots a flare tool? dubble flare? am I rammbling again?  hope this helps some? :dunno:

dang, I see your still @ one point! not any more

I will tap in to the single line that runs from the rear axle to the proportioning valve. I wanted it closer to the cab but I guess it wont matter.I do not have an emergency brake.I am running 1980 Caddy calipers.Vented disc's.

More control meaning I can isolate the rear disc's..IE Use the fronts only or use the rear for holding.Use both in normal driving.

once you find the right line you can tap into it at any point after the little valve with the wire coming out (forget the name of the thing)  as for just useing the fronts alone I've never seen a line lock or micro valve that would let ya do that. If ya found one that's cool! good luck.

What you want is a Mico Lock.  It is a line lock similar to what drag racers use on transmissions for a good launch.
