A340F duals in a '82 w/22r
« on: Aug 06, 2010, 08:25:31 PM »
OK,
Here is a couple picks of the fable A340F behind a 22r/re. Pulled the chain drive case tonight to verify spline count and bolt pattern. Looks like it's time to order a 3.0 V6 adapter, 23 spline input gear, 4.7 gears and a MC07.
Pics of the t-case.............................

and the trans......................

Rory don't forget to take those cast pieces off the t case shifter rails so you can use them to convert your rear case to top shift with them.

If you need a different length of forward shift rails to line up with that hole in the tailhousing I have both versions of forward shift I'll drop in the mail for ya.

Any chance of ya tossing a digital caliper on that input of the case so we can compare specs between a340f 23 spline and aw4?  I'm curious if they used the same pressure angle and depth between both versions.  One of these days I'll have to write up a tech article of all the random crap I've learned and am still learning about these wicked trannies.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Just ordered a MC07, V6 adapter, 23 spline inputs and speedo cable extension, wow I'll have a speedometer again. Since this a rare trans. I'll post up pics of the assembled setup.

I bought the A340F set up sight unseen from a salvage yard in Spokane, WA. I only told them I needed an auto set up to bolt up to a 22r/re, and this is what they sent. Maybe it's a auto t-case that came behind most manul trans. I think the autos set the standard first but I'm biased.

You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of the trans, or the model number off of the side of the trans case?

couple pics of mine

Mine trans. says 30-40LE on the tag. But so do most of the A340's. I say you have the same trans. I do, get the V6 adapter and go for it, I did.

Marlin Crawler parts for duals behind an A340F.  I did my own triple sticks so I didn't have to cut two holes in the floor.

Measured this set up just for the tech info:
Someone is always commenting on how much longer this is, I think it's an advantage because it reduces front driveline angle.
48" long bellhousing to rear flange!
