AC Amplifier ?
« on: Sep 23, 2010, 09:15:43 PM »
I can't find one of these anywhere besides, I'm assuming, the junkyards.  Does anyone know if these are available new? I googled the part# and came up with nothing. Nippon Denso 077100-0610. It looks like one of the little thingamajiggys on the circuit board got toasted. Thanks for any help

You might be able to fix it............

Test the resistance of the clutch coil.     Should be 3.5 ohms +- .2

If it's low, to much current was going to the clutch, and you'll just blow out another amplifier.

How would you fix one of these? What would cause this? Thanks.

This is the Part # in the pic

Do your self a favor and make sure and check your thermo switch in this pic. It supplies the ground as long as the engine temp is under 213 degrees f.  As long as you ohm it out and there is continuity your good. The switch is fine. BUT, make sure that the connector to it has a good connection. If you jump the wire straight to ground(short cut) and the compressor kicks on, you may have a bad switch. Bro, I've been over, under, in and around this system. It's pretty simplistic but complicated if you skip anything.
EDIT----Assuming that your system has a complete charge, clutch is engaging, etc.....

Looks like a transistor blew.

Too much amp draw due to a shorting clutch coil might just do it.........

Also, the system has been empty since I bought the 4Runner about 4 years ago. I believe the AC was added by the previous owner. Everything looks to be complete and original Toyota parts. The compressor has never kicked on until a couple months ago when I ran a jumper straight to the battery to see if it would run. I'm trying to decide whether I should repair the system or install the YORK instead for onboard air.
