Top shift conversion? Marlin?
« on: Dec 20, 2004, 10:58:10 PM »
I just got done converting my Marlin 4.7 case to top shift tonight, I am about halfway done with my dual ultimate build and was wondering if it is normal for the in put bearing to slide out of the T case a little it, the shift rail grinding was easy and I also got the case ready for a twin stick coming in spring. It wasn't near as bad as I thought it would but the oil slinger and the thing right after it were in some what poor shape so I used the ones from the other case. Going good so far post picks on my build post  :turtle:   :driving:  :burnout:

Ya, it's normal. Kinda irritating too. I just got done putting my dual set-up together last weekend, and when it was fully together, it wouldn't shift. I was getting ready to take it apart, and had actually started when I noticed the bearing popping out in front. Once it seated, then everything shifted smooth as could be. It usually isn't an issue, because the bearing seats properly in the back of the tranny or adapter. Just make sure that when you bolt everything together, that the bearing is seated. Otherwise you'll get spacing issues between the box/adapter or the box/tranny.
