Wide and smooth for sand

anything with round treads. nothing that digs like boggers.  the wider the better...  richard cepek FCII would be really good   or the swamper STS

The wider the tires aired down are the best.
Ive seen street tires aired down to five pounds on the sand and they run fine.

Nitto dune grapplers seem like they might do well, but I've only come across them in vanity sizes so who knows.

I wheel on the sand daily lol. I live right on the coast. Bfg a/ts do awesome along with any other at. Key is to air down. You want alot of contact area so like almost bald tsl's might work. Toyo m/t tires do great also.

a mild mud terrain like the old bfg's do well aired down. the best Ive seen are bfg a/t's in the dunes just nothing to aggressive you want to float over the sand even an aggressive mud terrain aired down will dig. if you have the power paddles work nice but a Little ruff on the street.

Generally an aired down AT's or Street tread.  And yes wider is better.

On a light truck like a Yota the old BFG MT's were of for me.  I ran them on a few rigs and never got stuck in the sand.  I ran 7-12 psi depending on the rig.

I used to tow my toy hauler up a wash that was very soft sand in most places, granted this was an F350 towing a trailer very different than a Toyota but the old BFG muds aired down a bit worked awesome better than the AT's for me anyway.  Not sure how the new style MT will work but the Pro comp MT is pretty close to the old BFG muds.  I hear good things about the Procomp AT in the sand as well.

great tire for a lower powered truck. if you got a V8 might as well go for the full paddles!!!

Let's put a smile on that face!

I ran 33's x 10.50 BFG KM2 on my Cherokee and it went every where through the dunes at Glamis and Pismo. They worked so well the I drove in 2wd through the smaller dunes just to have more fun. But I have been going to the dunes for 12 years now so I know how to drive through the sand. The key is  :psss: airdown to 7psi, momentum, play with the throttle, and you should rarely be wide open throttle.
