« on: May 22, 2010, 07:34:55 PM »
I have an 85 auto with a 22re that is getting a 151f, will the Clutch and flywheel from an 86 non turbo truck work for this swap??  Also which throw out bearing will work?  definitely not the one for the 86.  need answers quick, the truck is my dd.

Since you need an answer quick, can I assume you've already searched the site extensively for your answer?

I just put an R151F in my 88 22RE pickup. It bolted right in place where my W56B was. I used my original reverse and 4WD switches because the plugs were different on the turbo tranny I got. I also used the same clutch, flywheel, and TO bearing.

Only issues I had were I didn't get shifters with my trans and the shifter locations were about 4" forward of my originals. My original trans had a top shift T-case and the R151F I got was a forward shift Tcase. I had to cut the shifter opening in the floor and make a different cover plate and boot setup. I have pics.

Hopefully your trans has the shifters and T-case (23 spline).

I definitely did, but my search was bringing up tons of worthless questions and answers.  A buddy also did a search and he found the answer in a post by Marlin, which didn't come up in my searches.  Not a newb to toyotas or searches, just the Marlin board, it may take me a bit to figure out everything on here.

I found that the throwout bearing used for an R151F is in fact also the one for an 88 up V-6 with the 150.  My Marlin clutch which was ordered for a 151 came with a throwout for a stock 86 without the 151.   Luckily I got bell housing, t-case, and all shifters.  Just have to trim my auto shifter opening now.
