Swapping a 1.9TD (AAZ) into my '86 Cherokee. I'm using the Acme kit, which basically turns the TD into a 22R-style Toyota. I have the bellhousing from the Toyota and am mating all up to my AX5/NP207 combo. I have an input shaft from a G52 that will swap in place of the AX5 shaft. So, I'm basically good to go... I think. What I really want to do, though, is put an AX15/NP231 in place of the AX5/NP207. Using the same logic as my current setup, do I only need the input shaft and bellhousing from an '86-'87 R151F and that will swap directly into an AX15? Is there anything else to be wary of? I've been searching the boards and I think I have an answer, but I wanted to make sure before I pull the trigger. Any and all advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Also, are the R150 and R151 input shafts the same? And do they share the same pilot tip diameter as the G52 (.47")? The Acme kit pilot bushing is built to receive a .47" pilot tip. And, would it be easy/easier to just swap in an R-series and Toyota t-case as a whole unit instead of going the AX15/NP231 with swapped out shafts route? Basically, I'm looking for the most cost-effective and straightforward upgrade path from my AX5/NP207. Thoughts?
