W56-B tranny L50 starter,slave cyl
« on: Feb 28, 2010, 08:55:08 PM »
I've graduated from the L43 to L50 and ran that for a few years. It's time to move on.
I would like to know if my Starter that I am using on my L50 would work with the W56-B tranny and same with the Clutch slave cyl?
Looks close but I'm not sure. On my L43 to 50 I had to change out starters and slave cyl.
Thanks for your input.
Mike

I should ask if my Marlin 1200HD clutch/flywheel will work from my L50?

i just recently swapped out my L45 for a W56 and the starter and clutch slave cylinder bolted in just fine. i don't think there's any difference between an L45 and an L50 other than that one has 4 gears and the other has 5. i also stuck with my stock flywheel since it was in good shape but upgraded the clutch to a marlin 1600.

You are right no difference in length between the L series. L43 was a side shift as you know.
Thanks for answering my questions.
Is their a difference between the throw out bearing? The W56 is missing. On my L50 it was replaced when I did my Clutch up-grade. I would like to use all that I have for this swap to cut cost. I know drive shaft will have to be Modified as well as the Cross Member/tranny tunnel.
What about the Speedo? I have dual cases. I'm pretty sure I will need a extension peace for it. As it sits now...the cable is maxed out with the dual cases and my L50.
I'm checking what others have done before I swap them out. I need my truck Down little as possible.

The throwout bearing from your marlin clutch kit will work. I have dual cases as well and ended up needing a speedo extension cable. Marlin sells an 8". I wasn't sure of that was gonna be long enough due to the added length from the W56 so I ordered a custom 12". After hooking it up I realized I probably could have gotten away with the regular 8".
