Make sure that the ignitor is well grounded. It grounds through the body of the ignitor so when you mount it, its being grounded. I use a small wire wheel on a drill and clean the metal on BOTH surfaced really well and then tighten up to the inner fender or such.

I have also seen where the wire on the ignitor plug are loose in the plug itself.

You should have heavy gauge grounds from battery to motor, motor to frame and motor to body. I used 4ga but that is probably overkill.

X2 make sure the ignitor is plugged in all the way.  All the wires spliced accordingly?

i tried grounding the ignitor and double checked to make sure it was plugged in right but it still didnt work. i just found a two connectors that were laying on top of the tranny that i didnt see. they are connectors E1 and E4 i have them sliced in up in the cab but cant find a stop to put them on the motor.. the wires are pretty long and come off the harness right next to the oil cap and reach all the way to the transmission. i just cant find a spot to plug them into

Anything going that far would be transmission/transfer case related and probably have no purpose for ignition. More likely backup lights, 4x4 indicators, etc.

Are you sure that your ignitor is good? Have a buddy that has a 3.4 that you can take off and try?

Do you have these?

An overall wiring diagram for your year motor. Find the wire color you are trying to determine its function and use the search feature in Acrobat. For example, if you are searching for what a plug with a yellow wire with a black stripe does and goes, type Y/B in the Acrobat's search and it will find it for you in the diagram. That is how I found all the wires and functions for my 3.4 swap.

Also, hop on over to the 3.4 swap forum at Yotatech, if you havent already. There is a lot of experience there in 3.4 swaps and someone may have a good answer for you.

Wait. Let me clarify.

You have a 97 motor that was auto and switched to a 97 manual harness AND a 97 manual ECM as well.

What is the part number on the ECM? Will start with 89661-?????
