extra cab taco or regular cab
« on: Mar 07, 2010, 07:54:03 AM »
Ok heres the deal, i am trying to sell my 4runner to get a taco to start DDing and once out of school SAS and build it up more. I like the regular cabs a lot built but the extra cab has a lot more cab space but it is way longer. I want to get one with a 2.7 not a 3.4 so when i do build it i can use mini truck doubler. Please let me know your thoughts comments and concerns involving the 2 types.

Also on a side note i know TRDs are only extra cab and 3.4 but is it really worth it i mean all you get is shocks and rear locker correct?

Well...how much room do you need/want? Do you plan on having an AMP and sub woofers? How tall are you? I personally am 6'1 and regret getting the std cab as the seat does not go far enough back.

Just because you have the 3.4 does NOT mean you can't run mini truck doublers. You would just have to find the r151f Turbo trans.  Then you could have the same front bolt pattern and have the gear drive backside bolt pattern!! Of course, people sell those for $500 But, yeah. they kick butt!

Or use an adapter!

So, really you have options, but I would go for the extended cab TRD with the elocker all setup and ready to rock.

i like my xtra cab but wish i had a standard cab for wheel base purposes. it does good though. i would say that if your wheel base is your biggest concern get the standard. if room is your biggest concern get the xtra. and ya the trd just comes with the rear locker and other upgrades that you will replace anyways. ya it comes with the e locker but if you can find the standard cab for a couple grand cheaper probably with the 2.7 that just pays for arb's in the future?
