Auto trans question
« on: Jan 27, 2010, 11:44:52 AM »
I have a 89 4 runner with v6 and a auto trans.  When the truck is cold the truck shifts funny and sometimes doesn't shift into overdrive. Is this normal or is there a sensor that controls this that may be going bad.

Have you checked the fluid level?

Ya I did. Changed the fluid and filter. Put a new torque convertor in when trans was installed.

If you have an extra tranny cooler for pulling trailers, it will take that much longer to warm up. I have to put something infromt of mine up here during the winter, or it takes a really long time to warm up and shift into OD.
