You know your thermostat is broken when...
« on: Nov 19, 2004, 07:11:05 PM »
Noticed the motor was taking for ever to warm up in the morning.  So I figured my stat was stuck open. It wasn't stuck open.  Yikes!! :smack:

Is this a Stant thermostat?  I've had terrible luck with them before,  Nate

I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure it's a Robertshaw.  I replaced it with a Stant and they looked totally different.

Then who makes the best stat.  I guess I could go to the dealer and get a stock one but I like to avoid going to the dealer as much as possible.  They never have what I need and have to order it and then it costs too much.

But who makes the best aftermarket stat?

Seems like you guys should just stop shopping at kragens and autozone.  Head to NAPA and ask for a SuperStat.  They're built better and they last longer.  It might cost 2-3 dollars more, but how much does a new 22R cost?

The last one I bought was a Beck Arnley and seemed to be a much better built unit than most I've seen.  I had a fail-safe Stant fail right out of the box, and had a regular Stant lock up and cost me an engine.  As far as Napa parts go, I steer clear of them if possible.  We use a lot of their parts at work and they're junk, and frequently fail right out of the box.  I don't shop at Kragen or Jesse James Zone unless Franklin is closed.  If you know your brands well enough it doesn't matter where you shop, just that you know what you're getting,  Nate
