How did you guys get around it throwing emissions codes?
Are you running the 01-04 EVAP and Pressure, VSV's ??

Thanks,

Looks killer, nice and clean.

As for this 2004 conversion, nothing in terms of emissions is done right. Yet, ironically, it never throws a trouble code because it never passes the oxygen sensor and evaporation system checks.

As for Bevin's 2003 3RZ-FE conversion, we made sure to use everything from a 2003 Tacoma, including the e-vap system. Bevin's conversion never throws a check code and runs excellent.

The older 95-97 distributor engines are definitely easier to swap in, require less parts, and are more forgiving when it comes to passing state emissions exams, if that applies to you.

Interesting... What do you mean it never gets past the oxygen sensor?

I am about to crank over my 2004 2RZ in my 1983. I ended up getting the emissions (EVAP and sensors) from an 2000 Tacoma not knowing it is different than the 2004's. All the sensors are very similar except for the vapor press sensor which the 2000 Tacoma does not have. I missing that and will see if I can "fool" the system into thinking its there. But will report back to see if running the 2000 Tacoma emissions will work as it is all contained seperate from the fuel tank unlike the 01-04's...

Really interested to see why there is no codes being throw on Dean's Rig...

Thanks for all the help again,
-Al

No, no, read carefully:

it never throws a trouble code because it never passes the oxygen sensor and evaporation system checks.

will see if I can "fool" the system into thinking its there.

Good luck on that. It was a royal PITA to get Bevin's truck to pass every system check. Here is what you want to have before you go to the Referee:

Now that I've got these two 2000-2004 model Engine conversions up and running, I now have complied complete wiring diagrams and pinouts that can enable the average wire-scared weekend warrior a shot at getting his own 3RZ wired up and running. I would like to say that I feel I've perfected the wiring swap process of the 3rd generation of the 3RZ Engine, and I plan on making my research open and available to the public as soon as I can get time to convert it for the forum.

Please tell me this is somewhere? lol
