« on: Oct 23, 2009, 04:46:37 PM »
so im having some issues with my motor. it runs good when i have my foot in it and it idles pretty good. but when im driving and im just cruising it stumbles and backfires and acts all dumb.... i just changed the fuel filter and put a new coil on it...  maybe timing or the maf? or even the egr stuff?  any help would be great.

Have any codes? Get a manual and Check the TPS and AFM.

i just rebuilt my motor and i did not fine tune my MAF. before the rebuild it ran perfect.
now, just at slight throttle tip-in it will hesitate.  at first i noticed it in first gear. now if I'm on the highway and I'm cruising, i just bearly give it gas and it will buck a little.

i thought the exhaust leak at the collector and the o2 sensor reading . was adding to this problem (i lost a few nuts on the collector) , it kinda got better. but I'm still sure its the MAF sensor.

I had a similar situation and changed distributor cap, spark plugs, wires, fuel pump, and fuel filter.  Came to find out all I had to do was readjust the throttle positioning sensor (TPS).  Hope that helps.

Another vote for the TPS.  Tuning it up is a complicated process and there are about a dozen things to do and check as far as getting everything right.  90% of the time when these trucks are having throttle or power issues, it's the TPS/MAF.
