Carb dip
« on: Apr 10, 2022, 07:24:45 PM »
I just rebuilt a carb ( '77 Corolla 2TC) And used the new formula Berrymans chem dip. This stuff is terrible! Anybody know where I can get the old style chem dip? Or maybe a suggestion as to what would do better?

I did this stuff cold, then tried heating it to 140 F. Either way the Berrymans didn't clean the outside of the carb for beans and leaves doubts it boiled out the ports. Top it all off it left a sticky, gummy feeling coating on all the aluminum parts. I loved the old formula! It cleaned the metal bright and left everything clean! this new formula sucks ass.

Sure it'll fit........ Just needs a little brute finesse.

Wow... deucie!!

An old pro like you hasn't found your own secret bean dip recipe!! :gap:

Nobody knows everything.  :therethere:

I was always hesitant about dipping my carb in a cleaner for very long.

It's been a long time since I dipped a carb.

H8PVMNT has probably dipped quite a bit.... I wonder what he uses?

I would have to do some "research".... but you are already a research ninja, right? :beerchug:

I haven't done a carb in awhile. But the last upper plenum on a 22re I used a 50/50 blend of tap water and some old pine sol I had lying around. Worked great for me.
Unfortunately we have to sneak across state to get some good products these days. Thank goodness it's only a 1.5 hour drive.
