Vented disk brake and wheel combo question
« on: May 30, 2009, 05:34:14 PM »
My 85 4runner is due for a 4 wheel brake job. I am debating on converting the front brakes to a "vented" disk set up. I currently have the black rock crawler style wheels with 4" backspacing. Does anyone know off hand what size wheel spacers i would need to run to clear the calipers?

6v calipers can be ground down to fit, 4 cyl ifs calipers will fit fine.

Which is better to use? I am also going to upgrade my master cyl to the 1" bore version. Any ideas for a better bolt in brake booster while i am at it?

any V6 truck 90-00 i think uses the same bolt pattern as the older trucks.
and they are Dual Diaphram.

bolts right up and will give you a much stiffer and firmer brake.

if you go to a junk yard MOST should be able to cross reference for you.

I went in and asked for a 93-97 T100 4x4 Brake Booster and it came out of a 90-98 V6 4Runner.

The Taco stuff will bolt right up too. I've run that for about 10 years. Works great with vented disc's
