Alright, I have a SAS kit on my 96 Geo Tracker and it is 3 link front with 4 link rear...
The kit uses a panhard for the front, but the ends that are used are fj80 TREs, not heims. Well I broke one this weekend. I have never been a fan of the TREs for a panhard, but since that is what the kit came with, that is what I used. Now that it is broken, I want to change it, but thought that simply drilling out the taper to accept a heim would be weaker since it would not be a double shear situation for the bolt.
I was talking to a guy over the weekend and he said that a ¾” heim set up in a single shear situation would be stronger than the TRE, even though a double shear setup would be ideal.
My question is this: does anyone make a heim joint that will screw into my panhard bar that is threaded for FJ80 TREs? One end is left hand thread, the other is right hand thread. If so, where can I get them? This is a trail rig mostly but does see a good bit of street time occasionally.
as you can see, my space is limited...
Thanks in advance!
