Unless you live abroad, I do not know where you are getting a 95 solid axle. In the USA, the last year of the solid was 85 in the runners and pickups. US LC's had them well into the 90's but they are different.

The 8" third from an 85 will fit into a rear housing up to 95 and vice-versa.

yup third is transferable i had a front 83 thrid in the rear of my truck for a bit with no problems. just make sure you cross drill the flange and don't do what i did. which was just take the flange off the third that uses the correct bolt holes and put it on the older one. i lucked out and it ran perfectly fine still

dont run yota axles... if your a serious wheeler that doesnt want to dump serious money into the axles to make it work right... just go 60's. since your build a 3rd gen why not jump to full widths and run some backspaced wheels if you dont want them to wide. just my two cents... and the SFA is 3" narrower then the ifs rear axle

'85 front will be 3" narrower than your '93 rear.

previous poster has some points, it will be a lot of cash to build it correctly however so are the 60's! What are you wanting to run? 37's or 38+? DD or trail only?
I have 37's, toys and I drive it, I have busted the inner and outer hub gear but that was warranteed...........(thanks Bobby) and that is it. Works great, doesn't stick out too far and has much better ground clearance.
If you run 60's and anything less than a 40" tire you have a rock anchor in my opinion. Toys have great clearance but they sacrifice in strength over the 60's. Now with Longs your axle strength is close to the 60 shaft so that is not as much of an issue.

all depends upon what you are wanting to build it for. I love rocks, so that is what mine is built for and it does awesome.

I am not saying that Toyota axles are all that great but a 60 is not the cheapest thing in the world to build either, if you do it right.
