low pinion elocker question
« on: Jan 30, 2009, 06:06:14 PM »
Stupid question, but can I run low pinion elockers in my 85 front and rear axles? one came from a 2001 tacoma, the other a 2000 tacoma. The only reason I ask is I heard someone say rears can only be used as a rear, but I though this was only true with high pinions being used as fronts.

The original diffs in our trucks are both lp so you should be fine. If you use hp in the rear you will load the coast side when accelerating and its much likely to break then the front.

they dont bolt up, you have to do some cutting to fit the elocker in, but they are the same 8in housing. non elockers have a 8.4 ring gear
