Driveline building question
« on: Jan 29, 2009, 04:07:33 PM »
Building my own rear driveline and had a question about compression. How much space should I have for the compression stroke? And please dont give me that stupid black graft with the math on it.........If I could compress my rear springs for the measure ment that would be something.

my rear drive line from high angle only has about 2" compression, and i have never had any problems with it. 4"  :turtle: rear springs.

For the rear you don't need a whole lot of compression as when the axle moves up the shackles pull it back. Now this is not to say that it doesn't compress as it does but not as much as you might think.  :twocents:

On my rear dl I had about 2" as well.

yA i BUILT ONE DRIVELINE TODAy, after my dual cases my flange to flange changed 6.5 inches shorter. So I wanted a little extra out of the driveline so I removed 7" out of the driveline. And now my compression is even shorter and there is a little over a inch. Aparently seven inches removed doesn't correlate to flange to flange length. I geuss since the angle changes removing 7" doesn't really remove that much.
