4th gear input runs all the time, even in revearse, thats why you hear it in every gear except 4th and 5th. you dont hear it in 4th because you're actually using it and its not free running-it doesn't effect 5th gear.
I had replaceed the clutch, t.o. bearing, PP before this thread. I went with a low milage p-n-p tranny.... cured the prob. Still spent 650.00 and sat though. Well worth being rid of the god awfull whine though.-Josh
