For Those Of You That Use I.E. Web Browser
« on: Dec 17, 2008, 08:33:37 AM »
I'm sure glad I don't use I.E. it seems as usual there is a hole that lets hackers walk right in and take over. I use Mozilla Firefox and so should you. I've never had any issues with it. If You have I.E. and don't have automatic updates I would strongly suggest that you get this one.

Microsoft to Rush Emergency Patch for Internet Explorer
By Scott Gilbertson EmailDecember 17, 2008 | 9:10:20 AMCategories: Browsers

Ie_logo While Internet Explorer may not be the most secure of browsers, at least Microsoft is fast when it comes to patching vulnerabilities. The company is getting ready to push out an emergency update for the very serious flaw we reported yesterday.

Microsoft says it plans to ship a security update for Internet Explorer later today. The update will be rated "critical" (the company's highest priority rating) and is recommended for all versions of IE.

The update is something of an unusual move for Microsoft and highlights the severity of the problem in this case. The vulnerability, which affects Internet Explorer, not Windows itself, is already being exploited in the wild — primarily on Chinese websites where the malicious software goes after passwords for computer games. However, security experts are worried that more serious threats will emerge.

While the known exploits target IE 7, Microsoft says that all supported versions of IE (5.5 through 8) are affected.

If you've got Windows Update turned on, you should see the patch pop up later today. If you've disabled Update, you can either turn it back on temporarily or download the patch when Microsoft posts it to the Download Center.

Don't Tell Me what to Do!   :gap:

Where as I have a deep hatred for Microsoft I'm not a fan of Firefox either.

It's just a simple case of keeping your machine updated, Locking down your network, locking down your machine, and finally (the most ellusive for people) Surf the web smarter.

but thanks for bringing that to peoples attention.

Well I've never had any issues with Firefox, unlike I.E. or Safari nor have I heard of any. Get Safari, and get carpet bombed or have your Paypal compromised. Run I.E. and have your browser taken over. I do use I.E. for my general computer use but never go online. I keep Foxfire loaded but not as the default to even protect my computer more. Use it as a internet browser only. Even if they invade Foxfire it is basically a stand alone, so they can screw with it and nothing else.
