front spring question
« on: Nov 28, 2008, 09:32:12 PM »
i've had a death wobble for quite sometime and i'm starting to wonder if i might have missed something... any of you that run marlin springs up front are they installed with the long or short side forward? i'm starting to think that i installed the springs backward because the caster is just so far off?

This part goes to the front. DW can be caused by a lot of things. What is the pre-load set at on the trunion (knuckle) bearings? I like between 13-15 pull pounds. What shackle length do you have? With a drop front hanger I use 4.5 inches bolt hole to bolt hole. Make sure your wheel bearings are set at the right torque. Make sure all the bolts, and U-bolts are tight. I torque the U-bolts to 90 ft lbs.

i might have figured it out now.  while on an easy run my buddy noticed that the spring pin on the passenger side was missing i drove it home that way but that could be part of the problem..... probably got sheared off at mcr....  the springs are in right and im using a pretty short shackle but the caster is definately raked way forward
