If you have any PS2 games or want to get them, since about 80% of new games are still released on PS2, get an original 20Gig or 60Gig model. They have a full PS2 machine/hardware in them and work flawlessly with the rumble/feedback as well as all of the older PS2 and PS1 titles.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3The new machines have support via software and it's full of problems and slow as well more often than not running older titles.
A 20 or 60gb older model ca be had for $250 or less as well(they command a slight premium since they are 100% backwards compatible).
I got mine and I couldn't be happier. I have four PS3 games and 18 PS1 and PS2 games. Oh - and a few downloaded titles.
Games to get:
Sony/Online Purchase
- Flow
- Everyday Shooter
- Pain
- La Coco Roco
PS3 highly recommended:
- GTA 4
- Rockband
- Burnout Paradise
- The various Lego games
- Metal Gear - when it comes out
- Ratchet and Clank
PS2 recommended games:
- Katamari Damacy 1 & 2
- Various RPG games - tons to chose from. Persona 3 FES and Star Ocean are vood and not expensive. Final Fantasy of course.
- Fighting games. DBZ Tenkaichi 2 is the best - the new PS3 one and Tenkaichi 3 aren't as good. $10 title worth every penny.
- Various Ratchet and Clank games
- Devil May Cry series.
- Hitman Series
- Need for Speed series
- GTA series (these four now come in $20-$30 three set boxes currently)
