Ive ran 5.71's theyre freakin sweet for 40's on a toy.  I beat the :pokinit: out of my truck and the 5.71s held up for days until i bound my driveline climbing a wall and it caused me to lose about 4 teath on the ring gear.  That wasnt bad it was the sheard off my output shaft in my tcase that killed me.  So yea the 5.71s arent as weak as people think...

And we have proof now  5.71s chipped teeth while the t-case sheared an output shaft.

i never broke my 5.29's in the 7 or so years i wheeled them. its all about the setup and good gear set.
i ran us gears in the rear with a detroit and richmonds in the front with an arb.
i broke an e-z locker, multiple birfs and inners, broke a first gen welded cryo'd long and broke a 30 spline long. my 5.29's took it all and kept ticking. and i am not easy on my junk, multiple trips to the hammers, rubicon ect.

i have known a few people that have ran 5.71's with no issues. i think a lot of it is hype over the small pinion of the 5.71's.

we need someone to set up a test rig for ring and pinions. i bet we will see more issues with brand than with gear ratio.

ya thats true. its all in set-up.
i am starting to wonder why you can put any gear in the hy-pinon case??
i thought i saw on zuk's website that you should be able to be a any ring and pinon in the hy-pinon case?
but i cannot confirm this, maybe i was seeing things because i cannot find it again.

you can only run a high pinion ring/pinion in a high pinion 3rd. Don't try to but regular gears in a hi pinion 3rd.
