1987 toyota 4 runner, nor cal, $1300
« on: Mar 21, 2008, 05:19:01 PM »
OK so i have a 1987 Toyota 4runner. $1300, its currently in santa rosa
I tried to put a new motor in it and its not working for me. It was burning oil since I got the truck three years ago and figured it was the head, 1 year ago i got a reman head and installed it. it changed nothing as far as oil consumption. so this previous summer i got a reman block for it and installed it. That turned out to be a disaster and had to send it back and get the bottom end warranted. I reinstalled the new bottom end over winter break and it currently has a head gasket problem, there is about 1500 miles on the truck since winter break and while the oil is not milky there is signs of water, also the rad is dropping and there are no leaks.

Truck is bed lined Green
Interior is ok, there is no carpet and some panels are missing.
truck is a 5 speed tranny shifts great, transfer case works well, but shifter boot on transfer case does not allow for it to stay in 4 low
the truck is being sold as is and will not be smoged as the head gasket is having problems.
     good
 Fuel injection
 Thorley header
 2.25 exhaust with flowmaster exhaust
 marlin flywheel and 1200lb clutch
chevies in the rear with bilsen shocks

also have solid axle and high steer plus an extra top shift transfer case that will be going with the truck.
these parts are not in santa rosa however they can be brought here if nessisary

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

The green is what the truck looks like now.
however the wheels in the older pic (where its gray) are what is on it now with 31 bfg all terrains.
